More than a thousand pairs of
shoes, more than hundred racks of Filipiñana dresses, and more than a billion
pesos; these are the things that one Imelda Marcos needed to satisfy her
craving for “beauty.” As she said, everything needs to be beautiful because she
is beautiful. Isn’t she much like Marie Antoinette of France? Marie Antoinette
was known for her extreme extravagance. She’s the wife of the King of France
that was notorious for her lavish spending on clothes, shoes and over-the-top
parties. Oh yes, Imelda Marcos does seem like the reincarnation of Marie
Antoinette. They were both wives of powerful men that tolerated their excessive
material wants. They both worshipped the concept of beauty; and they both were
in their own delusional world that everybody adores them. They both thought that
as long as they had what they want, even when everyone else is suffering, and
they stayed beautiful, everyone was happy. What delusional creatures, really.
At duration of the film, I had to
face palm myself several times just to avoid shouting what felony I was
watching. I really couldn’t believe that such a conceited, pompous and
delusional person exists! It even broke my heart that it’s this type of person
that held power in our country before. No wonder our country is already dirt
poor! All our money went to the shoes of a crazy woman. What even pains me more
is that some people still support the Marcos family! How can they support
someone who stole from them? It’s like loving your own kidnapper, preposterous!
I have so much hatred for this woman that words aren’t sufficient to show you
how much. I just fervently wish that no Imelda II would befall and terrorize
our country.
